I rode the bike to work today...

and yesterday, Tuesday, and Monday as well. The truck has an empty gas tank and I haven't started it since last weekend because I needed to haul some stone. I have lot's to blog but no time to do it. Keep checking back, I usually do a lot at once.

The sun was coming up as I pulled out of the driveway. It's great to be alive. I wanted to ride yesterday but I had to haul around lawnmower parts. Such is the life of a homeowner.

It's getting warmer. It was 51° today. I was hot on the way home last night, I'll have to shed a layer or two on the way home tonight. That's all for now. I've got three posts in the hopper so stay tuned.

Edit - I got rained on, on the way home. Damn, if I had some chaps then only my crotch would have gotten wet.

I rode the bike to work today...

and I could see. I purchased a Fog City anti fog insert for my helmet last week and installed it. It worked great this morning. I did not check the weather but I think it was under 40° this morning. One problem with this is I tend to wear glasses under my helmet and they can fog. I don't wear corrective lenses, I just like to have redundancy in the eye protection arena. If I don't want the shield down for some reason I am still protected. Two words - June bug. Today I just took the specs off because at 40° I had no desire to open that shield.
The shield was about twenty bucks and I purchased it through Aerostitch Rider Warehouse. I get their catalogs and I really like their philosophy so I buy something from them once in a while. They are available in clear, smoke, and amber. My safety glasses I wear with my helmet are amber so I went with the amber tint. I'll now switch to clear glasses. On the Aerostitch website they state the amber is being discontinued, I don't know if Fog City is discontinuing them or Aerostitch, frankly this won't be an issue until I need another. So far I am not disappointed. Installation is easy but cleaning the shield was tricky. After I installed it and let it sit for 24hrs as per the instructions, I put the helmet on in the early morning sun in my driveway I had no fog issues. The insert did however seem kind of blurry. Turns out it was a bit dirty and this too was hard to clean. I don't remember the shield being dirty when I installed it but it was dim and in the house as opposed to bright sun out in the driveway. I also tried my best to fog it with my breath and perhaps I needed to brush my teeth. EEWWWWWW.....GROSS!
Anyway, problem solved and it was a good excuse to clean my motorcycle hat.
In a related event....
When I was a youngster my Dad and I took a motorcycle trip on his sidecar rig and we found ourselves in the middle of a Monarch butterfly swarm. We we both covered in yellow goo. I had a bit more protection in the sidehack but getting hit in the shoulder at 60mph. with a hundred Monarch butterflies is not comfortable. It was sort of a surreal experience.
