Not quite sure

My friend Mike is back at blogging. Take a minute and go take a look at what Mike has going on. He's a good friend and everyone that blogs wants people to read thier stuff. I was trying to find his old blog by searching my blog for his old web moniker. I couldn't find it because he deleted it but never mind all that. I was reading some of my old posts and I realized that they were much better than the new stuff. I used to post pictures of cool bikes I found and just riff on whatever was going on in my life or just talk motorcycles. I actually had a few readers and what I wrote was well...me. I'm an irreverent wise ass. I think so anyhow, and I've been trying to stay away from the wise ass stuff. I wanted to focus more on the photography but there are 47 million photo blogs out there and that's not me. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be doing that but I've never really been comfortable doing exactly what anyone else is doing. I guess I need to "stop thinking about fitting into a mold and think about blowing the mold to pieces". Yep, I totally stole that quote. It fits. This brings me to the Not Quite Sure post title. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with this blog. Consider it a work in progress but please check back because I am trying to post at least once a week. Not once weakly. Maybe if I think it's too stale I'll take some time off and reconfigure. As I said, not quite sure. I can do better. PLEASE leave a comment. If you have been reading and think I've gone downhill say so, do you miss the motorcycle content? Miss the garagemobile type stuff? Let me know. There's the bell, gotta go...

HI SURLY,

I'VE BEEN READING YOUR OLD BLOG AND THE NEW ONE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT'S ALL A MATTER OF EVOLUTION. I DON'T HAVE THE TIME I NEED TO POST MY RANDOM THOUGHTS AS OFTEN AS I WOULD LIKE, IT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T HAVE THEM, THOUGH. I LIKED THE MOTORCYCLE PICTURES BUT I LIKE THE PUSHING THE ROCK UP HILL THOUGHTS ALSO.

JUST KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, AND EVENTUALLY YOU'LL ACHIEVE WHAT IT IS YOUR LOOKING FOR.

AS FAR AS THECOMMITTING OF 10000 HOURS TO HONE YOUR CRAFT, I'VESPENT ALMOST 40 YEARS DOING WHAT I DO, AND ASK YOUR DAD ABOUT A LIFETIME OF HONING HIS, AND WHAT HE WILL TELL YOU AND I WOULD WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE WITH IS LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY. IN THE END IT WILL LOOK GOOD ON YOUR BUSINESS CARD.

TALK TO YOU SOON,

TVI

P.S. WHEN MY MOTORCYCLE IS FINISHED I WOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE YOU SHOOT SOMEPICS.

I'm new to the blog so any real opinion would be gratutious. Like starting to watch a show mid-season. I'll be following and getting acquainted with the principals.

thanks

New to your blog so any real comment would be gratuitous. It's like starting a show mid-season. I'll be reading and getting to know the principals. Does seem like a bit of philosophical gymnastics...my kind of workout.

Well then Jszee, I hope I can do for you what you just did for me. Philosophical indeed.

Thanx for the plug. The last two attempts just didn't feel right. I kinda wish I wouldn't have deleted J Bob. Oh well. It's done.

I don't see why you can't do a little of everything. Write what you feel. The only rules you have to follow are the ones YOU make. See if people want to fit in with your style.

I'm trying to have fun with it this time. May I suggest you do the same? Don't make it a chore.

Motorcycles, photography, philosophy, and irreverent smart ass are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Use the blog to feed the creative beast within and just have a little fun with it. No reason what so ever to be one dimensional.

You could practice your photography on TVI's bike or some of mine as a before and after piece but your readers would never remember the before by the time we get around to the after.

Just do your thing, Surly. We all wax and wane and change with the seasons, age and climate.

But I'm still waiting for some RabbitHelmet!

Surly -

I meant to post a comment the other day, but got busy - Grumpyunk pretty much took the words out of my mouth. Do your own thing. I don't necessarily follow blogs just because of the subject matter, but because I find the person writing it to be interesting. All your various hobbies & interests are part of that.
