Vintage Days

I received the new AMA magazine in the mail on Saturday. Just flipping through I saw the info page for the upcoming 2013 Vintage Days. "Oh, cool" I thought. I was wondering what was the date, featured marque, etc... Lower left corner of pg. 48 (street version) there is a random shot of folks in the swap meet. Three people in the foreground carrying their new treasures. So I thinks to myself, "I wonder if I wound up in any of those shots?" Sure as shit, I'm in the picture. I rode down with three other guys and three of us are in the pic. I'm the one looking to the right in the too-big black and white jacket. I can't find the picture to post it at the moment. It occurs to me that I had several more posts planned for last years Vintage Days. Ooops. I should get around to that. It's not like I'm busy or anything. Not so busy that we had a birthday party for a five year old a month late and on the same day we were having the house re-roofed. It's not like having little kids running around the yard that might have some nails in it and sweaty guys throwing stuff down off the roof is a bad idea. Sure, some poor planning was involved but you get the idea. Anyway...Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio is cool.

I've got the Viffer just about road-worthy again and I'm looking forward to going to Vintage Days again this year. I'm hoping I can meet up with Gymi again perhaps. Oh, and if you're reading this I got your email. Thanks.

Rock on.

Mid-Ohio Vintage Days PT2 Aermacchi Edition

EDIT: I found this cool site with a bunch of of Aermacchi stuff and I was wrong about the ERS in a street bike frame. Not sure about the other one... Check it out. http://msolisvintagemotorcycle.com/ers

VMD, if you didn't know, includes: road racing, motocross, trials, bike shows, and probably the biggest vintage bike swap meet on the planet. I'm drawn to these things like a moth to a flame. I'm not sure I saw every Aermacchi there but I snapped pictures of quite a few.

Clean 350 road racer for sale.

Leggero for sale in the swap meet. 65cc if I remember correctly. Similar to the Old Man's Rapido.

 250cc CRS Factory Dirt Tracker

Looks like a late model 350 street bike converted to dirt tracker.

This looks like an ERS motor in a street bike frame. Nicely done.

This was my favorite of the weekend, however. It was running all around the swap meet with that open megaphone. Cut down Ceriani, Bates style seat, no bullshit. Looks sort of familar, no?

My late model 250.

Four bald guys go to Ohio... Pt. One

It's not so much a joke as what I did last weekend. Thursday night I kicked off the weekend by going to see Todd Snider at the local Opera House. That guy was high as a giraffe's ass. Still put on a great show in a nice small venue that was five miles from my house. I went with my buddy John who was one of the three guys I rode to Ohio with. We left Friday morning for the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. I'll have to leave the rest of the story for later as I'm running out of time. Here's a few teaser pics of the sort of tings we saw.

Hanging out in the woods is great when it's 90°.

I don't know what it is...but I like it.

Honda Motocompo.

More to come...
